GRADE 5
HOMEWORK EXPECTATIONS
HOMEWORK EXPECTATIONS
Dear Fifth Grade Students and Families,
Homework is an important part of education that connects and reinforces in-school assignments. It is the student’s responsibility to fulfill these requirements, not the parent. As a parent/guardian you should review the homework, check your child's agenda book and then sign.
It is the student’s responsibility to complete their agenda books from the board in its entirety. Homework that is due the following day should be turned into the “Homework Bin” immediately in the morning, as it will be checked and accounted for by 8:30AM. If there is a missed assignment, the student will complete a “homework excuse note” and place it in the “Homework Bin” in place of the assignment. Students are allowed three missed homework assignments per term. If a fourth missed homework assignment should occur, it would result in a lowered grade on the report card in the “work habits” section. In addition to filling out the “homework excuse note”, students will complete the missed assignment during snack or lunch recess. Every student starts the Fifth Grade with an “A” in homework, and it is our expectation that they will keep this grade! In the event of an unforeseen circumstance that would prevent a student from completing homework, please send an email or a note explaining the incomplete work. We also welcome notes on assignments like, “I found this challenging and tried my best” or “I like assignments like this!”
Sincerely,
Mrs. Ricciuti
