PROJECTS:
Independent reading is an important part of fifth grade. This school year, you are expected to produce three book projects of your choice, one per term. Each student will be required to read a book that they have not read previously and is at least 150 pages, plan a thoughtful project in one months time, and present it to the class. Each term you will choose a different genre for your book project (realistic fiction, historical fiction, science fiction, nonfiction, mystery, and fantasy). Due to the fourth grade reading project, we will not use biographies/autobiographies as a genre choice. In addition to their project, students will come with a written recommendation for their book, no less than 5 sentences (recommendation sheet attached). They will explain why or why not they would recommend the book using evidence from the text.
*Attached is a menu of ideas for book projects. If you have another idea not listed please see teacher for approval.
